Reality Bites (1994)

Hell ya' one of the few films that actually accurately captures the Generation X zeitgeist!  Cynicism and sarcasm abound!

This flick is great and even today holds up well because... the economy of 2013 stinks even worse then the economy of the early '90s!

Becoming a slacker like Troy Dyer is really the only hope!  Yes and this even ties in with 'Atlas Shrugged' if one wants to get all ideological.

Troy Dyer rules!  If you watch closely you will find he is not some liberal do-gooder:

"I am not under any orders to make the World a better place."

Also in that one scene in the coffee shop (after Lelaina has all those horrible job interviews) one can see that he is reading Marin Heideggers 'Being and Time'.  Heidegger... not exactly Left-wing!

Also Troy has an awesome band!  'Hey, Thats My Bike' rocks!

Lelaina is cool too.  She wants to like do stuff, and not just be some pop-tart like Britney, Christina, or the Kardashian sisters who would soon come to curse our culture after the glorious '90s. Lelaina is totally cute and crush-able and also not all high maintenance whilst wearing ridiculous out-fits.

The soundtrack is good!  I don't think there is any other soundtrack out there that has Dinosaur Jr. on it and the Juliana Hatfield Three!  YES!

'Reality Bites' is a precious gem to behold!  One of the few rare flicks that is actually geared for Generation X (there is like, what four or five total?)  Glad I watched my copy!
